The original OxIS was approved by the Future Oxfordshire Partnership (formerly known as the Oxfordshire Growth Board) in Autumn 2017. The Strategy built on an extensive evidence-based review to set out the core projects and investment seen as required to support a sustainable future for Oxfordshire. It identified and prioritised infrastructure across a range of sectors to support known local plan housing and employment development, and outlined where funding was required to help deliver this growth. OxIS has been an important piece of work to support development of subsequent funding bids and agreements, helping to secure funding for schemes through the Housing and Infrastructure Fund and the Oxfordshire Housing and Growth Deal.
Project Category: Oxfordshire Infrastructure Strategy (OxIS)
The Oxfordshire Infrastructure Strategy (OxIS) is an Future Oxfordshire Partnership commissioned project involving all six Oxfordshire Local Authorities. Its purpose is to identify, map and prioritise Oxfordshire’s infrastructure requirements to 2040 and beyond.
As part of the Housing and Growth Deal agreed in 2018, there is a commitment to update OxIS. An OxIS Stage 1 report has now been completed, and this was considered at the Future Oxfordshire Partnership meeting on 25th January. The Stage 1 report provides an up to date infrastructure picture that complements adopted local plans. Importantly, it also provides a new framework in which to consider infrastructure priorities to 2040. It is proposed to build on this with a Stage 2 report which will complement and support the new Oxfordshire Plan.
