Growth Board agrees Housing and Growth Deal extensions with Government

Oxfordshire Growth Board has secured support in principle from the Government for extensions to various programmes within the Housing & Growth Deal.

The Covid-19 epidemic has exacerbated some of the challenges that jeopardised the delivery of the Deal.

In response, Growth Deal officers met with representatives from Homes England and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to explore options to extend some of the deadlines to more accurately and realistically reflect a true delivery timeframe.

Following a presentation from Growth Deal officers at a productive meeting on July 23, the Government has agreed in principle to extensions to the delivery of affordable homes, infrastructure and the Oxfordshire Plan 2050.

The Government also indicated its willingness to work with the Growth Deal team to ensure the Deal worked more effectively and delivered potentially wider outcomes for Oxfordshire.
