Low-carbon affordable housing webinar a success

Nearly 100 people learned more about delivering low-carbon affordable homes in Oxfordshire as part of a special webinar.

The virtual event, hosted by Oxfordshire Growth Board, brought together expert speakers to showcase exemplar developments, discuss local and national policy and how to meet the challenges for delivery.

Among the speakers were Andrew Turnbull from Norwich City Council who talked about the Goldsmith Street Passivhaus development; Clara Bagenal George from Elementa Consulting; David Scrimgeour and Kim Swallowe from Build! at Cherwell District Council; Debbie Haynes from Oxford City Council; Ian Pritchett from Greencore Construction and Professor Rajat Gupta from Oxford Brookes University.

The event, held on Wednesday 9 December, was chaired by Councillor Susan Brown, Leader of Oxford City Council.

More than 80 people from housing associations, developers, community groups, local authority colleagues and elected Members, as well as other interested individuals and organisations, logged on for the event.

It is hoped the virtual event inspired and encouraged more low carbon affordable housing developments across the county.
